The mission of Columbus Early Learning Centers is to help young learners develop, families succeed, and neighborhoods thrive and is central to the work we do each day in the communities we serve. CELC has been providing high-quality early learning and care to our city’s children for more than 133 years. CELC utilizes practices linked to positive outcomes for children from low-income families, like low student: teacher ratios and activities that involve the parent in the child's educational experience. Our tradition of affordable access to high-quality early childhood education has strengthened the lives of thousands of children and families and the communities in which they live.

Programs and Services:
We currently operate four centers in the Linden and Near East neighborhoods of Columbus that serve children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years. We use a play-based curriculum (The Creative Curriculum) and positive discipline in our classrooms to meet the needs of our 300 students. Our student to teacher ratios exceeds state requirements, allowing our teachers to provide more attentive care and individualized instruction to prepare every child for kindergarten. All of our centers are rated 4 or more stars by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services’ Step-Up to Quality Star Rating System. In addition to providing early learning services at our four centers, we have a home visiting program, ParentChild+. ParentChild+’s in-home approach makes it convenient for underserved families isolated by poverty, language barriers, and lack of transportation to participate in high quality, educational early childhood services.
