Job Description:
Job Title: Preschool Teacher
Department: Education Administration
Full- Time / Hourly
Reports to: Preschool Director
Role Description:
The Preschool Teacher has responsibility for the daily oversight of the preschool classroom. This role requires experience and confidence in preparing students for kindergarten. In addition, the lead preschool teacher develops lesson plans, completes assessments, and maintains learning centers.
Role Responsibilities:

Ability to create a creative learning environment for preschool age students.

Assists in planning and implementation of an educational program for preschool age children.

Establishes a developmentally appropriate educational climate in which children will develop to their fullest potential.

Assists in the registration and interviewing of preschoolers and their parents.

Schedules yearly parent conferences for each student.

Develop, plan, and implement field trips and other special activities.

Maintains daily, weekly and monthly records as required.

Develops daily lesson plans and weekly activity calendars.

Provides classroom management utilizing praise, redirection, focusing and positive guidance.

Active Listening Skills

Communicates regularly with Assistant/co-Teachers, Floaters, as well as Director.

Maintains classroom cleanliness and order

Maintains daily attendance records and meal counts

Engages regularly with children

Develops a thorough understanding of agency policies and procedures.

Keeps up to date with current child development best practices by reviewing literature as it pertains to issues which effect youth and families.

Participates in professional development by attending workshops, webinars, and seminars and seeks out pertinent learning for teaching staff

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel
Education and Experience:
An Associates or BA in Early Childhood Education or other related field required with a minimum of two years of supervisory experience in an educational and or social work setting. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work successfully with preschool age children in a small group setting. Familiarity with Teaching Strategies Gold to conduct lesson planning and assessments is preferred. Familiarity with ODJFS licensing rules, ELA and ASQ Assessment and Screening tools as well as the Early earning Development Standards is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of activities with young children.
Willingness to abide by CDC and county guidelines for COVID-19 safety restrictions including wearing a mask, keeping social distance and a temperature check.
