Rise Together Innovation Institute is a capstone of a larger, Franklin County-funded strategic plan to help 400,000-plus County residents find paths toward economic stability. Department Overview
The Community Advocacy and Partnerships Department will ensure the development of outreach and collaboration programs for engagement with community partners.
The primary objective is to develop strategic partnerships for RISE that serve to foster greater community connectivity and meaningful engagement on critical issues affecting individuals and families made vulnerable by systemic barriers and persistent economic deprivation.
Job Summary
The Director of Community Advocacy and Partnerships is a senior position responsible for a significant program of strategy; data collection and analysis; program development and implementation. The Director of Community Advocacy and Partnerships reports to the CEO and works frequently with the organizational leadership, the communications and research departments, the board, community and state advocates. The Director of Community Advocacy and Partnerships will help promote RISE’s expertise, resources, and capacity to advance poverty reduction and pro-affordable housing agenda at multiple levels. The Director of Community Advocacy and Partnerships will engage professionals from organizational collaborations in the county and state to develop allies and advocates in planning, communications and training activities, to ensure that RISE achieves the stated goals of the organization and maximize impact in the spaces and communities the organization engages.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
The Director of Community Advocacy and Partnerships will be a creative, solutions-oriented problem-solver who will:
Develop processes, procedures, workflows, systems, and narratives to help shape the direction of RISE’s ongoing and future work and highlight our impact on the community.
Develop, produce and disseminate program materials that may enhance knowledge, understanding, and impact of RISE’s poverty reduction work.
Support RISE’s mission by spearheading efforts to analyze data related to engagement activities, outcomes and outputs, in the service of advancing RISE’s public policy agenda.
Utilize rigorous quantitative and qualitative design and analysis skills to measure and shape RISE’s policy priorities at the state, county and local levels.
Narrate and communicate RISE’s impact to internal and external audiences and lead the process of initiating new activities and iterating ongoing initiatives.
Lead all facets of RISE’s relationship management and engagement with our strategic community partners that include human service organizations, policy and advocacy organizations and other networks of influence.
Create community activity materials, talking points and scripts for communications to leaders and the general public.
Support Director of Messaging Strategy and other RISE communications staff to promote and proselytize the RISE message throughout the community via various media and training platforms.
Develop a plan to better involve and incorporate feedback from community agencies, allies, and those directly impacted by RISE programs and advocacy campaigns.
Establish new, and build on existing strategic partnerships, and build roadmap to identify opportunities for partnerships to RISE’s goals of advancing economic and racial equity while strengthening sector capacity, with emphasis on issue-specific organizations, advocacy and interfaith partners.
Actively participate in internal and external planning meetings, listening sessions, and events to gather data and develop a deep understanding of the RISE’s work
Collaborate with members of various RISE teams to create compelling narratives about the outcomes and impact of RISE’s work for use in grant reports, annual/institutional reports, and other products. Other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Job Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Public Policy, Policy Analysis, Social Work/Sociology, or a related social or physical science field
Minimum of five years of related experience working in, government, community-based organization, faith-based organization, public policy organization, advocacy organization, or a related environment
Deep commitment to social justice, policy advocacy and research; understanding of the needs of the communities that RISE serves.
Demonstrated capacity to get positive results in complex environments, especially non-profit organizations.
Experience with diverse and multilingual communities, advocacy for low-income individuals and families.
Excellent planning, organizational development and strategic skills
Technologically savvy and skilled with various databases, spreadsheets and presentations.
Strong planning, communications and interpersonal skills
Team player, able to handle multiple simultaneous tasks, extremely organized, accurate, responsible, flexible, diplomatic and able to work well under pressure.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact professionally with people from all backgrounds.
Experience working with monitoring and evaluation tools, such as theories of change, indicators, and metrics, or reporting templates and systems in a public policy setting.
Experience employing impact data in high-quality written products, such as grant reports, presentations, and other engaging formats.
Superior Microsoft suite skills.
Ability to think critically and creatively and a patient flexible, self-starter who is enthusiastic about helping to establish new organizational culture and practices.
Aptitude for synthesizing and presenting information compellingly to internal and external audiences both verbally and in writing.
Strategic, tactful, self-aware, collaborative, and authentic leader; competent relationship manager and influencer of internal and external stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position manages staff tasks within the Department that specifically align with community advocacy & partnerships objectives and outcomes. In conjunction with the Community, they are responsible for coaching, team building, and performance management.

Expected Work Hours:
This role is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. This is a hybrid role with days in the office to be discussed upon hire. The CEO must approve the work schedule and any flextime hours.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Benefits Offerings:
20 “Paid Time Off” days. PTO days may be used for vacation, sick, or personal time away from work.
Two (2) weeks of PTO balance can be carried over to the following calendar year. Employee shall not be entitled to receive the cash value of any PTO at the end of the year. Rise and Employee agree to abide by the terms set forth in the Rise PTO Policy.
10 paid holidays annually.
Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. Daily work schedule and any flextime hours must be approved by your manager.
Summer hours are offered from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This consists of working longer hours per day Monday through Thursday and a half day on Friday. Tuition reimbursement (subject to availability of funds)
