Description:
The One Linden Schools Initiative (OLSI) supports student success and focuses on preventing and mitigating the negative effects of traumatic life events and refocusing public schools as the center of the Linden community. OLSI is a partnership among multiple organizations, including Columbus City Schools (CCS), the City of Columbus, United Way of Central Ohio, The Ohio State University (OSU), and other partners. These partners are united in their vision for transforming the Linden community into a vibrant, thriving, safe, and welcoming anchor for Columbus as a City of Opportunity.
Programs and Services:
Phase II of the Linden Community Schools project continues the work of the Community Collaboration Model for School Improvement (CCMSI) at Hamilton STEM Academy and extends the work to Windsor Elementary School, another school in the Linden neighborhood. The project involves systems-level work to strengthen Linden schools by addressing students' academic, social, medical and family needs. Project funders include United Way of Central Ohio, Columbus City Schools, the OSU Foundation and the City of Columbus. These investments include time (i.e., program oversight, guidance and system-level enhancements), expertise, and dollars to support school/family-community coordinator roles at each school and broader technical assistance and evaluation supports.
