The Columbus Urban League (CUL) is a premier customer-driven organization advocating to empower individuals and deliver transformational service with integrity, innovation and collaboration. For more than 102 years, the Columbus Urban League has not wavered in our commitment to create hope and opportunity for nearly 40,000 African American and under-resourced urban families served annually. CUL’s core objectives to empower communities and change lives, focuses on education, building healthy families, economics transformation, and building sustainable capacity to strengthen families toward economic mobility stabilization. These services are offered through 21 different programs across every neighborhood in Columbus and Franklin County.

Programs and Services:

The Education department provides a host of educational and prevention programs that address the academic, social, physical/health and emotional needs of youth in contact with the community. The African American Male Initiative is designed to empower African American males with reducing contact with the criminal justice system, increasing physical health, and improving connections with their children and families. The Housing Services department educates participants about fair housing laws and practices, prepares potential buyers for homeownership and helps to prevent homelessness through tenant/landlord mediation and foreclosure prevention services. Through partnership with the YMCA, the Head Start program prepares children cognitively and socially for school through education, health and nutrition plus other wrap-around services.
