Redgraves Make Transformational Gift to Endowment and Success by Third Grade

March 26th, 2024

United Way of Central Ohio is excited to announce a generous donation of $500,000 from longtime donors and volunteers Lynne and Martyn Redgrave. Their generous gift, which will be split between Success by Third Grade and United Way’s endowment, underscores their unwavering commitment to supporting education and their dedication to building a stronger, more equitable central Ohio in perpetuity.

The Redgraves’ donation goes toward United Way’s Centennial Campaign, in honor of the organization’s 100th anniversary in 2023, and brings the campaign to over $7.48 million, or 57% of the $13 million goal. The Centennial Campaign supports both Success by Third Grade and United Way’s endowment.

“Having witnessed the profound impact of education on individual lives, we are honored to invest in a future where every child in central Ohio has the opportunity to thrive,” shared the Redgraves. “As longtime supporters of United Way of Central Ohio, we firmly believe in the transformative power of communitywide collective impact solutions. Together, we are building a legacy of learning, resilience and hope for generations to come.”

Tocqueville members of United Way of Central Ohio since 2004 and nationally in other communities since 1990, the couple has gone beyond their inspiring financial contributions to dedicate substantial time as volunteers, actively serving on United Way boards in many communities, and the boards of other national and central Ohio organizations.

Martyn has served on United Way of Central Ohio’s board of trustees since 2006, where he currently co-chairs United Way’s Resource Development Committee, and has in the past chaired the Audit Committee and served on many Campaign Cabinets. He also serves on six other public company, private company and nonprofit boards, including the Junior Achievement of Central Ohio board and the OSU Wexner Medical Center for Integrative Health advisory board.

Lynne has served on many nonprofit boards over the past 35 years, including the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts and the Columbus Metropolitan Library, where she served as the foundation board chair. She also currently serves on the New Albany Community Foundation board, where she is chair of the Grants Committee, and the OSU Wexner Medical Center for Integrative Health advisory board.

“We extend our deepest thanks to Martyn and Lynne for their unwavering dedication to helping central Ohio’s students succeed and for their extraordinary generosity,” said Lisa S. Courtice, United Way’s president and CEO. “Their tireless volunteer efforts in our community and their transformative gift not only exemplify their commitment to education, but also illuminate a path for future generations to thrive and succeed.”
