Rise Together Innovation Institute is a capstone of a larger, Franklin County-funded strategic plan to help 400,000-plus County residents find paths toward economic stability. Department Overview:

The Strategic Initiatives Department will build out and define the strategy for various policy areas (workforce development, transportation, housing, social determinants of health, youth engagement, education, and jobs) to identify business development opportunities for RTII. This Department will collaborate with the Policy Research & Data Technology Department to create evaluation standards for operating with entities that address poverty in Franklin County. The Department will also be responsible for implementing the relevant sections of the Action Monitoring Plan in partnership with other departments. The Department will work to ensure that the message of how poverty disrupts pathways to economic stability, the faces of poverty, and possible resolutions to address poverty are heard. Collective impact messaging will be a focus.

Job Summary

The Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives (Senior Director) will serve in an executive-level position that works directly with the CEO and senior leadership team to advance RTII’s mission, strategies, and programs. This position plays a lead role in determining how RTII monetizes, develops, prioritizes, and deploys our research, analysis, and community outreach resources to support our organization’s policy capacity and impact at the front lines of a movement to address and resolve poverty in various ways.

This Senior Director will lead the creation of projects to further leverage the expertise of internal staff and external advisors and partners within the RTII Organization. Partnering with other internal organizational Departments and external stakeholders, the Senior Director will respond to community needs and priorities, proactively filling research or policy content gaps and needs. The Senior Director brings the highest level of internal coordination to design, implement, manage, and evaluate the RTII strategies to meet the organization and our partners’ short-term and future objectives.

The Senior Director is a highly organized strategic project manager who manages skilled staff within the Strategic Initiatives department and mentors project team leaders across multiple departments. Given the scope, complexity, and number of projects and operational needs, this position requires significant experience managing large and dynamic projects. In addition, the Senior Director in this position should know the multiple issues related to addressing poverty and discrimination in the larger context and develop a vision for expanding our strategy to meet long-term organizational priorities.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Director holds critical responsibilities that will evolve as the RTII organization grows and functions are distributed. We anticipate a focus on the following obligations:

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP

· Serve as a thought partner and strategist on the Executive team to shape the organization’s overall strategy, execution, and process improvement.

· Collaborate with internal Directors and external leaders of partner organizations to set and execute strategy.

· Attend staff, executive team, and board meetings.

· Complete budget management and administrative and operational responsibilities related to the position.

STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT & BUILDING OF ORGANIZATION

· Design, implement, and manage the internal strategy for identifying, convening, and coordinating resources in the organization to meet partnership requests.

· Evaluate and prioritize requests for research, analysis, and technical assistance and determine our capacity to provide and/or complete deliverables for County and state coalitions, partner groups, and other organizations.

· Set clear expectations for excellence for RTII, support Directors and Program Managers to anticipate staffing and operational needs and oversee the overall production of work to meet deliverables on time and within budget.

· Work with the CEO to regularly assess progress to impact and revise strategies when needed.

DEPARTMENT TEAM BUILDING & STAFF MANAGEMENT

· Through direct collaboration with the CEO, set and communicate clear expectations for staff performance, leadership, and advancement within the Department.

· Supervise and support the Strategy Coordinators to ensure they meet their full potential to complete assigned projects.

· Support and create space and opportunities for all staff within the Department to lead, take risks, and innovate.

· Ensure Department staff has the resources and coaching to understand the political climate and the role of RTII and our partners internally and externally.

SYSTEMS & INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

· Identify, develop, and initially maintain internal tracking, reporting, and communications systems.

· Provide Department staff support and training to ensure active, accurate, and effective use of systems.

· Keep abreast of emerging project management systems and work to identify improvements and maintenance of existing systems.

Job Qualifications:

· Master’s degree preferred and 7-10+ years of program management experience. Knowledge of project management is preferred.

· Senior non-profit policy and management experience.

· Experience directing others to motivate and guide individuals and teams to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.

· Demonstrated experience in executive-level strategy and planning to set goals, procedures, and budgeting metrics to meet the organizational purpose and long-

term program priorities.

· Collaborate with the CEO to identify and leverage relationships, skills, and abilities to improve RTII’s quality of work and outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has supervisory responsibility for all Directors, Strategy Associates, and Interns within the Strategic Initiatives department and other employees as assigned.

Expected Work Hours:

This role is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. This is a hybrid role with days in the office to be discussed upon hire. The CEO must approve the work schedule and any flextime hours.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Benefits Offerings:

· 20 “Paid Time Off” days. PTO days may be used for vacation, sick, or personal time away from work.

· Two (2) weeks of PTO balance can be carried over to the following calendar year. Employee shall not be entitled to receive the cash value of any PTO at the end of the year. Rise and Employee agree to abide by the terms set forth in the Rise PTO Policy.

· 10 paid holidays annually.

· Flexible daily hours may be available year-round. Daily work schedule and any flextime hours must be approved by your manager.

· Summer hours are offered from Memorial Day through Labor Day. This consists of working longer hours per day Monday through Thursday and a half day on Friday. Tuition reimbursement (subject to availability of funds)

· Medical and dental insurance (employee pays 20% of premium)

· Vision insurance (employee pays 100% of premium)

· Short-term disability insurance (employee pays 50% of premium)

· Medical & dependent care flexible spending account

· Long-term disability and term life insurance (employer pays 100% of premium)
