Compensation: $13 hourly

Job Type: Temporary part-time

Schedule: Mostly Monday through Friday, some weekend availability needed

Location: Camp Mary Orton, 7925 North High Street

Description: The Godman Guild Association is currently hiring a Lifeguard at Camp Mary Orton for the 2022 summer season. This is a part-time, seasonal summer position, with the bulk of the hours on weekdays (some weekend availability is required for special events and rentals). The essential job functions of the CMO Lifeguard are to provide swimming lessons, monitor swimmers, enforce safety rules and policies, and rescue distressed swimmers, all in service of providing a safe and fun environment for swimmers of all abilities.

Responsibilities:

– Assist the Pool Director with facilitating and enforcing a safe swimming environment

– Provide lessons on swimming, water safety techniques, and practices to children and adults

– Enforce safety standards and policies among swimmers

– Monitor swimmers

– Rescue distressed swimmers as needed

– Provide assistance and/or accommodations to include participants with disabilities

– Maintain a clean and safe environment

Qualifications

– 18 years of age or older (required)

– Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications (required)

– Physical ability to swim, lift, rescue, and otherwise perform duties of position (required)

– Focus, hearing, and attention necessary to identify distressed swimmers, as well as patience and leadership necessary to assist them (required)

– American Red Cross Head Guard and Water Safety Instructor certifications (preferred)
