Job Description:
Godman Guild Association’s Ready to Earn (R2E) Program is a summer work readiness program for participants aged 14 -21. All participants experience classroom Work Readiness training, and ages 16-21are also placed into paid internships with area employers.
This is an outstanding opportunity for mentors, leaders, educators, and others experienced working with teens to help support career exploration and experiences for the future of Columbus’s youth, while creating long lasting change to to break the cycle of poverty.
Job Coach positions are full time summer seasonal and last roughly until Aug 13 for 35-40 hours per week.
Essential Responsibilities
Job Coaches spending majority of time
- Monitor and assist teens/young adults with completing work readiness assignments
- Facilitate and lead training opportunities for interns throughout the summer
- Complete weekly evaluations for teens and young adults
- Document feedback, findings and recommendations in program log and in intern file
- Ensure that locations are safe and appropriate for interns and adhering to policies and procedures in agreement (coaches for ages 16-21)
- Maintain audit-ready files for assigned interns
- Maintain attendance, performance and any additional records necessary for reports as required
- Attend regular Job Coach meetings
- Guide interns through project-based career exploration
- Assisting in special projects/events as assigned
- Maintain compliance with Godman Guild guidelines, policies and procedures
Work Experience and Education
- Requires some college education or equivalent, relevant experience
- Valid drivers’ license with current insurance; be insurable to drive agency vehicles with no major or DUI offenses in last five years.
- Education, Social Work and Business majors preferred but all majors considered
- Experience working with teens strongly preferred
- Must have strong relationship-building skills, high energy, able to multi-task, high attention to detail and aptitude to work in teams and independently.
- Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, Access, e-mail, and Internet is required.
- Experience working with reporting systems and other databases is desired.
The successful candidate will have very good verbal and written communication skills and an understanding of non-profit and/or community agency work. The ideal candidate will have a college degree, an understanding of employment services and/or workforce development delivery systems, and experience working with diverse youth and young adult populations and employers.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry objects up to ten pounds; spend approximately 95% of the time on the job standing, bending, lifting, sitting and walking; communicate verbally and in writing in formal and informal settings; observe data, analyze it and enter it into a computer database or software program; listen to and follow instructions; utilize office equipment; drive vehicles; demonstrate patience and understanding with clients; multitask and prioritize competing deadlines and perform assignments gracefully with frequent interruptions.
