Job Description:

The Rapid Rehousing Housing Specialist is responsible for ensuring that best practices are implemented according to Rapid Rehousing (RRH) by following a Housing First approach. That would include locating suitable units for all Rapid Re-housing (RRH) participants, providing housing counseling to RRH participants, landlord engagement, unit inspection and RRH participant file maintenance. 

Duties Included 

  • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and guests when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.

  • Research and identify suitable affordable housing options for individuals experiencing homelessness, and recruit landlords to provide housing opportunities for RRH participants.

  • Educate landlords about RRH and its benefits, and address potential barriers to landlord participation such as concern about tenant qualifications and short term nature of rental assistance. 

  • Participates in operations meetings, other program/association meetings/trainings and community meetings.

  • Help participants negotiate manageable and appropriate lease agreements with landlords and use or develop the skills to be a successful tenant.

  • Become proficient in understanding allowable costs within the contract. Request payments in accordance with funders’ requirements and agency policies to ensure timely and appropriate use of funds.

  •  Ensure services are documented and reported in accordance with agency and regulatory standards, as well as applicable grant requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and/or Professional Experience; or a minimum of two year degree in human related services and two years related experience.

 

  • Case management experience preferred

  • Valid Ohio State driver’s license and insurable driving record.

  • Experience working with adults who are experiencing or who have experienced homelessness, have a mental illness and/or co-occurring substance abuse disorders.

  • Experience with computer and knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software that may be required for business purposes. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
