POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Riverview International Center is searching for a full time Executive Director to capitalize on the organizational mission, enhance the strength of the current team structure, and usher in the next phase of service and growth. Our mission is to empower our new American neighbors by supporting individuals, strengthening families, and nurturing community. 

WHO WE ARE 

The Riverview International Center is centrally located among the large community of immigrants and refugees housed along Riverview Drive in Columbus, Ohio. Our organization was founded in 2015 and over the past 6 years, the RIC has grown rapidly from its modest beginnings as a part-time drop-in center. We are now an established, ever-expanding resource center offering essential services and programs to hundreds of families, including case management, English classes, workforce development, homework help, and assistance attaining benefits. In 2021, 630 individuals visited the RIC and received more than 8,100 points of service.

WHO IS OUR NEXT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

We are seeking a highly self-motivated, compassionate, detail-oriented, professional individual to lead our team.  

A strong candidate will fulfill the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience effectively leading a team of 3-7 staff and >100 volunteers
  • A strong background in cultivating robust corporate and individual donor relationships in order to support future financial growth
  • Demonstrable professional background in financial planning and solid record of fiscal responsibility
  • Experience overseeing and effectively administering grant-based funding 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a variety of audiences, including the RIC team, donors, volunteers, the Board of Directors, neighbors and the public at large
  • Experience developing and successfully realizing a strategic plan for a growing organization 
  • Experience in effectively administering back-end office applications for a small organization 

The following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of and experience engaging immigrant or new American communities 
  • Experience complying with the requirements of a 501c(3) non-profit status

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

The position of Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for leading all aspects of the Riverview International Center. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Lead Organization Operations
    • Direct all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the organization. Own the priorities of the organization in alignment of the mission, vision and values of the RIC. Ensure that operational activities are aligned to the goals and priorities of the organization.

Oversee, evaluate, and collaborate with organization staff. Work closely with staff to continually build skills, competence and confidence to successfully mentor, encourage, and motivate other staff and volunteers. 

    • Maintain responsibility for the organization’s budget. Ensure that the budget is funded and is aligned to the requirements of funders.  
    • Establish and maintain administrative policies and procedures for the functions and operations of the nonprofit, including policies for employment, fiscal responsibility and volunteer participation.

  • Philanthropic Engagement
    • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Riverview’s mission. 
    • Engage in fundraising and the development of new revenue sources
    • Manage applications for grants 
    • Maintain relationships with major donors, including personal outreach, and plan solicitations
    • Work with city, county and state officials and community representatives to  seek and enhance partnerships with private, nonprofit, government, and other related entities to share the RIC’s mission and grow its impact.
  • Strategic Planning & Marketing
    • Create and implement strategic plans for the organization
    • Establish long-term and short-term goals for the organization and track progress 
    • Monitor the implementation of programs and projects in line with annual programmatic budget plans and restricted funding requirements, ensuring that outcome goals are met.
    • Oversee marketing and other communications efforts
  • Facilitate Effective Oversight and Governance of the Organization
    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure that fiduciary responsibility to donors, grantors, and other constituents is maintained and meets the needs of the organization
    • Support the evolution of the organization’s control mechanisms
