Job Description:

The Development Manager is responsible for designing and implementing annual giving activities and meaningful donor experiences across the YMCA of Central Ohio.

  • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions. 
  • Manages a calendar of peer-to-peer, crowdfunding and special events campaigns that position the YMCA as a charity of choice in central Ohio and attain annual contributed revenue goals, with support from the Development Director and Senior Leadership Team.
    • Creates project plans, content calendars, campaign collateral and support systems.
    • Collaborates across teams to understand organizational needs and tailor annual giving projects to specific locations and/or programs.
  • Provides a joyous donor experience by engaging YMCA supporters in meaningful content across campaigns that connects people to the outcomes of their support and the potential of the central Ohio community.
    • Develops formal processes with a donor-centric focus to increase donor retention and upgraded gifts, including but not limited to calls, direct mail, social media, email, and events.
    • Collaborates with the Marketing and Communications team to curate stories of impact across all YMCA programs and services. 
  • Hosts the association’s major giving societies and planned-giving society, including onboarding of new members, offboarding of expired members, providing recognition materials, and planning quarterly social events.
  • Engages all YMCA staff and volunteers in financial development through campaign-specific and general skill building training.
  • Supports volunteer recruitment and onboarding across YMCA programs, particularly as a means to engage existing supporters.
  • Manages the association’s gift acceptance, acknowledgement, and donor data management processes, including accurate and timely recording of donor data consistent with generally accepted accounting principles, in close partnership with Controller and Accounting Team. Promptly provides tax receipts.
  • Evaluates donor data management processes, making recommendations for improved and comprehensive systems that meet the needs of current market trends; leverages technology and innovative donor engagement practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years experience in marketing and communications, fundraising, project management, event planning or similar experience required. Degree may be substituted with additional relevant experience.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills including written, verbal and public speaking. 
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft and Google products required, additional experience in customer relationship management (CRM) and Adobe Photoshop/Indesign softwares preferred.
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.

  • Ability to embrace change, learn and achieve in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
  • Some flexibility in schedule, including occasional nights and/or weekends to support events.
