Job Description:

Directions for Youth & Families offers community-based mental health and prevention programs that utilize a resiliciency-oriented and trauma-informed framework.  DFYF operates two after-school and summer programs located in Columbus, Ohio.  Our after-school and summer program offer diverse educational, recreational, and artistic programming to promote educational achievement, well-being, positive behaviors.  DFYF proudly serves over 5,000 youth, adults, and families each year.  All of our programs strive to fulfill our mission to build and inspire hope, healing, and resilience for youth, families, and communities through counseling and education.  

DFYF is looking for an energetic and creative individual to join our after-school and summer program as the Supervisor of the Ohio Avenue Youth Center.  The After-School and Summer Program Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations, programming for youth, and ensuring funder expectations are met.  Additional responsibilities include the supervision of Prevention Specialists, recruitment of youth, parent engagement, planning and execution of special events, assist with staff training, conduct weekly supervisions, and additional tasks requested by Program Manager.  Applicants should be comfortable in creating a welcoming, engaging, and safe environment for all youth to attend while utilizing a trauma-informed and resiliency-oriented approach.  

The position is full-time, Monday through Friday.  Hours during the school year are 11am to 8pm and during the summer months 8am to 4pm.  Team meetings and occasional special events may require adjustments to schedule.  Applicants should be comfortable working with youth between the ages of 8-18 years of age, completing all required documentation, and possess basic computer skills.  After-school programming hours are 3pm-8pm and summer program hours are 9am-3pm, Monday through Friday. 

Position Requirements:

Bachelor Degree preferred 

Valid driver’s license with auto insurance

Strong engagement skills and the ability to redirect youth, facilitate activities, multi-task and meet deadlines

Minimum 2 years of experience of supervisory experience preferred 

The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with youth and parents

The ability to work effectively, positively, and professionally with colleagues
