Job Description:

Godman Guild Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1898 with a focus on helping to build better neighborhoods – one person, one family at a time. Godman Guild’s programs are for all ages and are built to provide a continuum of success and support, making it possible for participants to achieve their academic and career goals.

We are currently hiring ACES Group Leaders to serve as a Professional Role Model to provide tutoring, general supervision, and facilitation of activities for a select group of students in grades K-5 during the A.C.E.S. Afterschool Program in an effort to prepare youth for academic success.

Essential responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Serving as a Professional Role Model and member of the A.C.E.S. team.
  • Providing tutoring and homework help, providing supervision and guidance for individuals and groups of students, and planning and facilitating academic and social/emotional enrichment activities.
  • Completing additional tasks such as attendance tracking, completing case notes and incident reports, facilitating transition activities, supporting with snacks and restroom breaks, monitoring playground activities, supporting with dismissal, and chaperoning field trips.
  • Co-facilitating group enrichment activities that are pro-social, speak to a variety of student interests, and contribute to student social, emotional, and academic development in collaboration with A.C.E.S. Education Specialists.
  • Documenting program curriculum and activities, communicating with families, completing assessments, and performing other duties as needed.

  • Consistency: Maintain the same high standards for each assignment as the last.
  • Works as part of a team: Share resources, responds to requests from other team members, and work aligns with agency/program agenda, mission, and vision.
  • Time Management/Multi-tasking: Accomplish goals by establishing priorities and organizing your workload to meet deadlines

Work Experience and Education

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
  • Experience facilitating group work with youth and working with diverse populations.
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Diseases, Recognizing Child Abuse, or ability to complete these trainings withing 90 days.
  • Valid driver’s license with no major or DUI offenses in the last five years.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and remotely, as needed.
  • Requires intermediate computer skills and experience using office equipment.
  • The ability to work non-traditional hours.
  • The ability to speak other languages preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical, Mental, and Other Requirements The ability to carry up to 50 pounds and to spend 95% of work time lifting, bending, standing, walking, and sitting.

  • The ability to work independently to complete remote work assignments as necessary.
  • The ability to drive agency vehicles and transport clients, as needed.
  • Demonstrate patience and understanding with clients.
  • Must have access to a working phone or cell phone.
  • Must have access to reliable WIFI or internet connection other than at A.C.E.S. program site.
  • Requires ability to work in environmental conditions that vary in climate, noise level, and terrain: activities occur inside and outside for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to form relationships with school employees, youth, and families while maintaining professional boundaries.
