I’m Devray,
from Westerville
I’m in human resources for a Columbus-based merchandising company. When I’m not working, I’m usually chasing my four-year-old son around. He’s constantly keeping me on my toes.
I was 35-years old when I was diagnosed with an irregular EKG. My son had just been born, and I had just started volunteering with the American Heart Association. Luckily, it wasn’t serious, but it was eye-opening. It’s alarming to think how many people haven’t been checked out, especially the African American population. African Americans are at a much higher risk for heart disease and stroke than any other group.
Today, I still volunteer with the American Heart Association and am also on their Young Professionals Board. I talk to people about what they can do to lead healthier lives – like eating healthier foods and adding physical activity into their daily routine. I also encourage them to see a doctor for regular check-ups.
I lend my voice to help others maintain good health.
That’s how I LIVE UNITED.
