Collaborate with United Way to provide year-round educational programs to implement throughout your workplace
United Way is here to help your organization connect with the community throughout the year. The community’s needs are on-going and the more your company is involved year-round, the more successful your fundraising campaign will be. Work with your United Way Relationship Manager or Loaned Executive for more information on how to promote awareness about United Way and our work.
How This Helps
Year-round communication helps educate employees on the impact of their gift and how integral they are to the work of United Way.
Strategies
- Send monthly emails about United Way’s work (provided by United Way).
- Sign up for our advocacy alerts, follow us on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook
- Then publish noteworthy information in company newsletters or intranet
- Year-round solicitation of new employees and retirees reduces campaign losses due to turnover. Meet with your HR department about implementing a new hires program and a retirees program to make sure everyone has a chance to give.
- A United Way e-newsletter is distributed monthly. Invite your employees to go to
www.liveunitedcentralohio.org and register to receive the e-newsletter via email. - Many volunteer opportunities exist in the community. Help your employees get connected
and become involved by going to www.gennextcolumbus.org to see what
opportunities may be of interest to them. - Go with them for a few hours at one of our GenNext volunteer events and post pictures and stories in your work communications encouraging others.
- Plan to participate in our Community Care Day that promotes teamwork while they see firsthand the programs that they are supporting through United Way and to have fun at the same time. Contact Elizabeth Reed at elizabeth.reed@uwcentralohio.org for Community Care Day
information. - Conduct an agency tour and introduce your employees to those whose lives they touch when they give through United Way. Touring an agency shows first-hand the lives that are changed by their contribution.
