Description:

Columbus Speech & Hearing Center's (CSHC) mission is to unlock potential for all individuals with communication challenges through all stages of life. We believe that communication is what connects people to each other and to the world around them and that people with disabilities have the right to lead meaningful and independent lives. To this end, our Audiology & Hearing Aid services and Speech-Language services programs reach over 8,000 clients each year in our community.

Mission:

Our mission is to help all people improve communication and vocational independence for life.

Programs and Services:

The Columbus Speech & Hearing Center has been providing quality services to the community for over 90 years. The Audiology department provides hearing services for newborns, children and adults so they can function independently, sustain social relationships and succeed academically and professionally. We provide comprehensive hearing evaluations and rehabilitative services, including tinnitus management and cochlear implant services. When appropriate, our licensed audiologists recommend and dispense a complete range of state of the art hearing aids to meet each patient’s unique listening needs, based upon the nature and degree of their hearing loss. We also provide custom hearing protection and swim plugs. The Speech department offers speech/language evaluations along with a variety of treatment programs for both children and adults. Speech/language delays, articulation disorders, voice problems, social communication deficits, stuttering and other communication difficulties are treated in individual or group therapy settings. Other speech programs include community speech/language screenings and accent modification. We believe that people with disabilities have the right to lead meaningful and independent lives, so the CPD program offers individualized vocational rehabilitation services such as career exploration, job coaching and job placement assistance to help people with disabilities reach their goal of obtaining permanent employment and living independently. CPD also offers American Sign Language classes; the Support Service Provider program for seniors who are deaf-blind and living in Franklin County; and, through the federal iCC (I Can Connect) program, they offer free communications equipment to low-income people of all ages with combined vision and hearing loss.
